Groundnut: Crop should not be destroyed by Tikka disease, know the exact measures to control

Tikka disease is also known as leaf spot disease. It is a fungal disease. Small plants are more prone to this disease. Due to its rapid spread, this disease causes heavy damage to the groundnut crop. If the disease is not controlled at the right time, the yield can be reduced by 10 to 50 percent. If you are also doing the cultivation of groundnut, then to protect the crop from this disease, it is necessary to know about the methods of control of this disease. Let us discuss in detail the information about the damage and control caused by the deadly Tikka disease in the groundnut crop.

symptoms of tikka disease

  • The symptoms of this disease first appear on the leaves of the plants.

  • Small spots begin to form on the leaves affected by the disease.

  • These spots are round in shape and dark brown in color.

  • There are yellow stripes along the edge of the spots.

  • As the disease progresses, the leaves turn yellow and fall off.

Ways to control Tikka disease

  • Select healthy healthy seeds without disease for sowing.

  • Follow crop rotation to avoid this disease.

  • Control weeds in the field.

  • Before sowing, treat seed per kg with Thiram 75 percent or Mancozeb 75 percent.

  • Avoid working in the field when the leaves are wet. Remove disease-infected plants from the field and destroy them.

  • After 40 days of sowing take spray of 2 to 3 times with 500 gm Carbendazim 50% (Bavistin) in 200 liters of water at 15 days interval.

  • If symptoms of the disease are observed, spray Mancozeb @ 800 gm (Dithane M45) or Copper Oxychloride (Blue-Copper / Bletox) 700 gm/250 ltr of water per acre in 250 ltr water per acre.

  • If required, spraying can be done 2 to 3 times at an interval of 15 days.
