In some states of North India, farmers start sowing potatoes in the beginning of October. For its good yield, the most important is the selection of seeds. • For high quality seed, get seed from local Krishi Vigyan Kendra or Agricultural Research Center.

• Apart from this, you can also get seeds from any certified fertilizer-seed center.

• While selecting seeds for sowing, rotten tubers should first be separated.

• Only fully germinated tubers should be used for sowing.

• The use of multiple-eyed sprouted tubers yields a large number of seed-sized potatoes.

• Tubers weighing about 40 to 50 grams should be sown as seeds.

• Use whole tubers for sowing. Sowing the entire tuber will yield only one plant from each tuber.

• If the size of the tuber is large, then you can cut it and use it.

• Sowing by cutting the tubers will increase the yield.

• But if one tuber is infected with the disease, other tubers can also be affected by the disease with the knife used to cut potatoes.

• To avoid this, use a knife to cut the tuber after thoroughly dipping it in a disinfectant solution.

• Before sowing, treat the seed with Trichoderma viridi @ 4 g per kg.

• Apart from this, 2 grams of Carbendazim per kilogram of seed can also be treated.
