Before cultivation of turmeric, prepare the field like this

In our country, turmeric is produced in 38 to 58.5 percent of the total area of Andhra Pradesh. Apart from this , it is also cultivated in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya. The knowledge of preparing the field before sowing is very important for turmeric cultivation. By preparing the field in the manner described in this post, you can get a good crop of turmeric.

  • While preparing the field for good yield of turmeric, the field should be plowed 4 times deeply.

  • While preparing the field, first of all the soil should be plowed with a plow.

  • After this, 2 to 3 plowing is done by cultivator or native plow.

  • In loamy soil, plowing can be done well by adding a solution of lime water at the rate of 200 kg per acre of land.

  • At the time of last tillage, add 12 to 14 tonnes of decomposed cow dung or compost per acre of land. This will reduce the loss of organic carbon in the soil and increase the number and size of lumps.

  • Turmeric should be sown on the bunds. This makes digging easier.

  • After plowing, make bunds or beds in the field. The beds should be made at a distance of about 40 to 60 cm.

  • While preparing the field, take special care of drainage. The possibility of rotting of turmeric tubers increases due to stagnation of water in the field.
