Best ways to control weeds in paddy nursery

The paddy seedlings are prepared in the nursery before transplanting the plants in the field. Farmers face many problems while preparing nursery. Including the abundance of weeds. Weeding in the nursery causes great damage to the plants. Let us get detailed information on the damage caused by weeds in the nursery of paddy and the methods of its control.

Damage caused by weeds in paddy nursery

  • Due to weeding along with paddy plants in the nursery, the plants do not get proper amount of nutrients.

  • Paddy plants become weak due to nutrient deficiency. Disease resistance also decreases in weak plants. Due to which the paddy plants can easily come in the grip of various diseases.

  • The growth of paddy plants is slow.

How to control weeds in nursery?

Before sowing seeds:

  • Fill the selected field for nursery with water or irrigate well 1 week before sowing of seeds. This will start weeding in a few days. Once the weeds emerge, do deep plowing and leave the field open for a few days. By doing this the weeds already present in the field will be destroyed.

After sowing:

  • To prevent the accumulation of weeds after sowing seeds, apply 800 ml Proteolchlor 30.7% EC per acre of land. (which is available in the market under the name Erase N). It can be used by mixing it with sand. Along with this, mixing it in water can also be sprayed. Use the drug within 72 hours after 24 hours of sowing the seed.

  • Apart from this, 80 grams of UPL Saathi can also be used per acre of land.

10 to 15 days after sowing:

  • If weeds are seen in nursery after 10 to 15 days of sowing, then control them by weeding.
