Chana: Remedies to prevent Fusarium wilt

Fusarium wilt is also known as Uktha disease. This disease causes great damage to the gram crop. Due to this fast spreading disease, a severe reduction in crop yield can be seen. See the causes of Fusarium wilt disease, symptoms of the disease and ways to avoid it from here.

  • The disease is caused by fungi of the Fusarium group, which live in the soil for a long time.

  • This disease also arises due to frequent change in weather.

symptom of disease

  • The upper leaves of the diseased plants wither.

  • As the disease progresses, the soft parts of the plants are also affected along with the leaves.

  • Gradually the whole plant dries up.

  • On tearing the stems near the root, black, brown or red thread-like fungi are visible inside.

preventive measures

  • Follow crop rotation to avoid this disease.

  • Remove disease-infected plants from the field and destroy them.

  • Avoid cultivating gram in areas where there is an outbreak of this disease.

  • To avoid this disease, it is necessary to treat the seeds before sowing.

  • Treat seed per kg with 10 gm Trichoderma viridi 1% WP.

  • While preparing the field, mix 1.5 to 2 kg of Trichoderma viridi in 40 kg of decomposed cow dung per acre and mix it evenly in the field.

  • Spray 3 grams of copper oxy chloride per liter of water.

  • On showing signs of disease, apply Carbendazim 50 WP 0.2% solution to the roots of plants.
