Many diseases are found in the crop of chillies like wet rot, powdery mildew of chilli, fruit rot of chilli, Vishnu disease, bacterial leaf spot etc. The most damaging disease to the chilli crop is leaf twist disease. This disease is also known as Kukda and Churda-Murda disease. Let us know about the causes, symptoms and some measures to prevent this disease.

• Leaf twist disease is caused by pests such as thrips and mites.

• The main reason for the spread of this disease is white flies, which work to spread this disease from one plant to another.

Symptoms

• In this disease, the leaves of chillies shrink and turn upwards or downwards.

• Thrips causes leaves to curl upwards.

• Due to the infestation of mite, the leaves start turning downwards.

• As the disease progresses, plant growth stops.

• As a result, the yield of chilli decreases.

preventive measures

• Diseased plants should be destroyed.

• To control white flies, spray 5 ml neem oil per liter of water.

• To reduce the infestation of thrips, take spray of 30 ml Trizophos 40 EC per 5 liters of water.

• To prevent mites, spray 5 liters of water with 40 ml propargite 57%.

• If both thrips and mites have been infested on chilli plants, then both insecticide and miticide should be sprayed.
