Complete information about cotton sowing

India is the second largest cotton producing country in the world. Long fiber cotton varieties are the best, whose length is about 5 cm. On the other hand, varieties with a fiber length of 3.5 to 5 cm are included in the blended cotton and varieties with 3.5 cm of Malni fiber are included in the short varieties. Cotton, being a cash crop, is also called white gold. Let us get some important information related to sowing before its cultivation.

• Cotton is cultivated through seed.

• Before sowing, treat the seed with 2.5 gm Carbendazim or Captan per kg of seed.

• Use Trichoderma or Pseudomonas for seed treatment by biological method.

• The nursery is prepared before transplanting the plants in the main field.

• The seeds should be sown before the start of the rainy season. Avoid irrigation immediately after sowing.

• If you are cultivating Bt cotton, then keep a distance of 108 cm between the beds and 60 cm between plant to plant.

• For cultivating American varieties of cotton, the distance between the beds should be 60 cm and the distance from plant to plant is 45 cm.

• For cultivating native varieties, the bed-to-bed distance of 45 cm and plant-to-plant distance should be 30 cm.

• Irrigation must be done 5 to 6 days after sowing.

• Irrigate about 20 to 30 days after seed germination.

• If cotton is being cultivated in dry areas, then irrigate with drip method for 2 hours every day for 5 days after sowing.
