Suitable time for sowing of Guar

Guar cultivation can be done successfully in both summer and rainy season.

To get the crop in summer season, it should be sown in the month of February-March.

To get the crop during the rainy season, sow it in the month of June-July.
Suitable soil and climate

Guar can be cultivated in almost all types of soil.

Well drained sandy loam soil is best for good yield.

It can be cultivated in sandy soil, light alkaline and saline soil also.

The pH level of the soil should be 7.5 to 8.

Dry and hot weather is required for good growth of plants.

Seed quantity and method of seed treatment

For cultivation by spraying method, 8 to 10 kg seed is required per acre of land.

For cultivation in beds, 5.6 to 6.4 kg of seed is required per acre of land.

Before sowing, treat seed with 2 gm of Bavistin or Captan per kg of seed.

After this treat 2 to 3 grams of Rhizobium culture per kg of seed also.
