The English language word fertigation is made up of two words, fertilizer and irrigation, which in Hindi literally means to do both fertilizer and irrigation together i.e. bringing water as well as fertilizer to the plants is called fertigation. This is a state-of-the-art method of giving fertilizers, in which water is given to the plants drop by drop by drip method for irrigation, in the same way fertilizers are mixed with irrigation water and the fertilizers are delivered to the plants with water from the dripper.

If you think of it as a formula then: Irrigation water + fertilizer = fertigation

Fertigation is known to be a good technique to maintain the required level of water and fertilizers in plants and soil. With fertigation method, fertilizers can be given in small quantities with irrigation at frequent and short intervals so that the crop can get the required nutrients and the full effect of fertilizers can be seen on the crop.

How to transmit granular and dry fertilizers to plants through fertigation?
Fertigation mostly uses fertilizers in the form of liquids, but granular and dry fertilizers can also be given to plants through fertigation. In this, before using dry fertilizers, their solution is made. The amount of water dissolved in fertilizers depends on their solubility and water temperature. Fertigation will be done only after filtering the fertilizers dissolved in water.

Advantages of Fertigation Technique:

1. By fertigation, there is a regular effect of water and fertilizers in the plants, which increases the quality of the produce and the yield.
2. By fertigation, fertilizers and other nutrients can be delivered to the crop as per the need.
3. Fertigation is the most accurate and modern method of giving fertilizers, in which the fertilizer reaches the roots of the plants directly, which reduces the chances of weed growth.
4. Fertigation method is the simplest which saves both labor and fertilizer.
5. All types of land can be cultivated through fertigation drip .
