Field preparation for groundnut

Groundnut is cultivated on a large scale in North India. Along with this, it is mainly cultivated in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Rajasthan. Dry and humid climate is most suitable for its cultivation. If you also want to cultivate it, then prepare the field in this way.

  • For the cultivation of groundnut, first of all do deep plowing of the field.

  • Plowing should be done to a depth of about 12 to 15 cm.

  • After this, plow the field 2 to 3 times with native plow or cultivator.

  • Plowing with country plow or cultivator will make the soil friable.

  • Do not plow the field more than this. By plowing more, the beans will be deeper. Which makes it difficult while digging.

  • At the time of final tillage, apply 10 kg quinalphos 1.5% per acre of land. This reduces the chances of getting termites and other pests in the soil.

  • About 15 days before sowing add 10 tonnes of cow dung per acre of land. This increases the yield.

  • Along with this, add 8 kg of nitrogen, 24 kg of phosphorus and 8 kg of potash per acre of land.

  • Sulfur is very important for good groundnut yield. Add 80 kg gypsum at the time of last plowing of the field. This will not reduce the amount of sulfur in the field.

  • Pay special attention to the amount of moisture in the field. If there is not proper amount of moisture in the field, then the groundnut will not be able to accumulate well.
