Field preparation for tobacco cultivation

Being an important commercial crop, tobacco is also known as 'Golden Leaf'. About 10 types of tobacco are cultivated in 15 states of the country. If you also want to earn more profit by cultivating tobacco, then you can see the method of preparation of the farm from here.

  • While preparing the field, do one deep plowing with a soil turning plow.

  • Leave the field open for a few days after plowing. This will destroy the weeds and harmful insects present in the field.

  • After this, do light plowing of the field twice.

  • Irrigate the field after light tillage. This will keep the moisture content in the field balanced.

  • After drying the top layer of the soil, do light plowing of the field once and make the soil flat and friable by applying a pat.

  • At the time of last plowing, add 10 tonnes of cow dung or compost manure per acre of land.

  • Apart from this, apply 32 kg nitrogen, 60 kg phosphate, 18 kg potash and 34 kg calcium per acre of field.

  • Now prepare the beds in the field. Transplant the nursery prepared plants on these beds.

  • According to different varieties, transplant the plants at a distance of 1 to 3 feet.

  • Planting should be done in the evening and after transplanting, light irrigation should also be done.

  • Keep weeding and hoeing at regular intervals to control weeds.

  • It is very important to pluck the flowers in the plants. If the flower is not plucked, the leaves become pale.
