Now the question arises that how pearls are cultivated and how pearls are made in oysters? To overcome this dilemma of yours, through this post, we are telling you how to cultivate pearls. So let's know how pearls are cultivated?

How to start?

  • To cultivate pearls, first of all, oysters have to be taken.

  • The maximum lifespan of an oyster is 6 years. Oysters can produce pearls when they are 3 years old.

How to prepare oysters?

  • First of all, oysters should be put in open water for 2 to 3 days. This softens the shell of the oyster and its muscles.

  • Now through a small surgical operation a 2 to 3 mm hole is made in the oyster.

  • A small particle of sand is poured through this hole and the oyster is closed.

  • A particle of sand pricks the oyster and a pearly substance starts coming out inside it.

What is the process of making designer pearls?

  • For the manufacture of pearls, a small operation has to be done in each oyster.

  • A custom shaped bead is inserted into the oyster during the surgery to obtain designer pearls. The oyster is completely closed after the shapes are inserted.

  • The oysters are then kept in nylon bags with antibiotics and natural feed for 10 days.

  • All shells put in nylon bags are inspected daily. After separating the dead shells, all the shells are thrown into the pond at a depth of one meter.

  • After some time, pearl-forming substances start coming out from inside the oyster.

  • After about 14 to 20 months, pearls are ready in different shapes inside the oyster.

  • Pearls can be extracted by breaking the shell of the oyster.
