Usually these pests make tunnels or holes in the main trunk and thick branches of the tree.

One of the main symptoms of their outbreak is the appearance of a web made from their feces on the stems.

During the day, these pests live in holes made on stems and branches.

At night, these insects come out and eat the bark of the tree.

Due to their infestation, plant growth stops and yields are reduced.

When the infestation is high, the trees gradually dry up.
Pest Control Measures

Clear the nets from the main trunks and branches of the tree.

First try to kill the insects by inserting iron wire into the tunnel or small hole made by these insects.

To kill insects, put cotton or any cloth soaked in kerosene oil or petrol in the hole and close the hole with wet soil.

You can also apply 20 to 25 drops of a concentrated solution of chlorpyrifos in each tunnel after which the tunnel mouth should be closed with wet soil.

Clean the trees infested with bark-eating pests with the help of a brush at an interval of every 15 days. This will clear the already existing traps and reduce the pest infestation.

Spray with 2 ml Chlorpyrifos per liter of water. As per requirement 3 to 4 spraying can be done at 15 days interval.
