  • The eggs of this insect are spherical and light yellowish white in color.

  • The larvae that emerge from the eggs are green to brown in color.

  • Female insects are brown in color and male insects are green in colour.

  • It takes about 4 days for the larvae to hatch from the eggs and about 17 to 20 days for the larvae to mature.

  • The larvae of this insect damage the flowers and buds of lady's finger.

  • If the plants bear fruit, then these pests also destroy small fruits.

  • Holes start appearing in the okra fruits.

  • As the infestation progresses, the fruits begin to rot and drop before they can mature.

preventive measures

  • Destroy infected flowers, buds and fruits to prevent the spread of the pest.

  • Use pheromone traps in the field to attract insects.

  • To get rid of this pest, sprinkle 2 ml Quinalphos 25 EC per liter of water.
