Major pests of paddy crop and their management
Paddy is one of the main food crops of our country. It is successfully cultivated all over India apart from hilly and barren areas. There is a possibility of damage to the paddy crop due to various types of pests. To keep the crop safe from pests, it is necessary to know about various pests and ways to prevent them.

Kurmula insect: This insect does not occur in irrigated paddy. But the unirrigated paddy crop suffers a lot due to this pest. This type of insect eats the roots of plants. Due to which the plants turn yellow and start drying. Infestation of this pest causes 20 to 80 percent damage to the paddy crop. To avoid this, use well decomposed cow dung in the field. 80 ml Chlorpyrifos 20 EC in standing paddy crop. Mix one kilogram of ash or sand and sprinkle it in the soil of the field.

Stem borer insect: In the beginning, this insect bites the leaves and starts eating from inside. Gradually, by eating the stems of plants, they make them hollow from inside. Due to its excessive infestation, earrings do not come out in the plants. Spray 8 kg of Carbofuran 3 g or Kartop Hydrochloride 4 g or Chlorpyriphos 2 ml or Acephate 75 sp 2 g per liter of water per acre of land.

Hipsa: These insects feed on the leaves of plants. Due to which white stripes are formed on the leaves. This causes the leaves to dry up. Destroy affected leaves and stems to prevent the spread of this pest. Do not use excessive nitrogen fertilizer in the areas affected by this pest. This pest can also be controlled by using a drug called Chlorpyrifos or Malathion.

Juice sucking insects: There is a high possibility of the juice sucking insects like honeybees, thrips etc. in the paddy crop. These types of pests make the plants weak by sucking the sap from the leaves of the plants. To avoid this, sprinkle 10 ml monocrotophos per 10 liters of water. Spraying with 1 ml imidacloprid or methyl demeton per liter of water can also get rid of this pest.

Gandhi bug: One of the major pests of paddy, this insect produces foul smell in the field, hence it is called Gandhi bug. Spray Malathion 50 EC, 1 ml per liter of water or Carbaryl 50 WP, 2 g per liter of water or Acephate 75 SP, 2 g per liter of water or spray Cobaryl or Malathion dust 25 to 12 kg per acre as required. Pay off the rate.
