Paddy nursery diseases and treatment

Generally after sowing of hybrid seeds of paddy, it takes 21 days for nursery to be ready. Whereas the nursery of other varieties of paddy is ready in about 25 days. At this time it is necessary to protect small plants from various diseases to get healthy plants. Foliar blight disease: It is a fungal disease. The symptoms of this disease start appearing in the paddy nursery itself. The lower part of the affected plants begins to rot. Apart from the nursery, the chances of getting this disease are high in the main area at the time of flowering. If this disease is not controlled in time, up to 50 percent of the crop can be destroyed. To save the plants from this disease, control weeds in paddy nursery. Take special care of cleanliness in the nursery. To avoid this disease, treat 4 grams of Trichoderma per kilogram of seed. Apart from this, 10 grams per kg of seed can also be treated with Pseudomonas fluorescens.
Jhant disease: Generally, the outbreak of this disease occurs about 30 to 40 days after the transplanting of paddy. But the symptoms of this disease start appearing in the nursery itself. This disease is caused due to fungus and change in weather. Initially, gray spots appear on the leaves of the plants. As the disease progresses, the size of the spots increases and the spots mix together and spread over the entire leaves. This makes the leaves look like burnt. After some time the plants become weak and start breaking. Select disease free seeds to prevent the spread of this disease. To protect the plants from this disease, treat the seed with 2 gm Thiram per kg of seed. If symptoms of this disease are seen in standing crop, sprinkle 200 ml Carbendazim in 200 liters of water per acre of land. Along with this, destroy the remains of affected plants after harvesting.
