The problem of bursting is often seen in pomegranate fruits. This problem increases in cold weather. With the increasing cold, preventing fruit from bursting is emerging as a big problem in front of the farmers. Due to bursting of fruits, farmers may have to face loss instead of profit. Large sized fruits burst more than small sized fruits. To avoid bursting of large fruits, harvest the fruits in time.

Some varieties of pomegranate like Nashik, Dolka, Jalore Seedless, Bedana Bosek are resistant to fruit burst. Select these varieties for cultivation.

To protect the fruits from strong winds, put a barrier in the north-west direction.

Improper irrigation is also a major cause of fruit cracking. Do not irrigate excessively or too often. In case of lack of moisture in the soil, irrigate at regular intervals.

To prevent fruit cracking, sprinkle 1 gram calcium and 1 gram boron per liter of water.

Spraying of Calcium Sulphate, Zinc Sulphate and Copper Sulphate can prevent fruit bursting.

Spraying of potassium sulphate 3 times also reduces the problem of fruit burst.

Fruit can also burst due to bacterial blight disease. This disease causes spots to appear on leaves and fruits. Within no time leaves and fruits begin to rot and as the disease progresses, cracks appear in the fruits. Collect and destroy the affected fruits to prevent the spread of the disease. Spray Mancozeb 0.25 percent on disease-affected plants.
