Remove the bitterness of financial crisis from chilli cultivation

The farmers get an income of 85 to 90 thousand rupees per hectare from chilli cultivation. Apart from India, chilli is cultivated in many countries like Korea, Sri Lanka, China, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Spain, Italy etc. In India, it is cultivated in the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan etc. Farmers can double their income by cultivating other crops along with chillies.

  • For chilli cultivation, loamy soil containing organic matter is best.

  • There should be good drainage system in the field.

  • The seeds are first planted in the nursery. Plants are ready about 25 to 35 days after planting the seeds.

  • For cold weather, sowing of seeds should be done in June-July.

  • Summer varieties are sown in the months of December-January.

  • About 1.25 to 1.50 kg of seeds are required per hectare of land.

  • Before planting chilli in the field, do 2-3 ploughing.

  • To get a good crop, before planting the plants in the fields, manure should be sprayed in the soil.

  • Chilli plants do not require much irrigation.
