Some Major Varieties of Carrots

Carrot is mainly cultivated during the cold season. It is included in the root crops. Before cultivating carrots, it is necessary to know about some of its major varieties. By cultivating the varieties given in this post, you can get good yield of carrots.

• Hisar Rasili (Modified): Carrot of this variety is 30 to 35 cm long. This thin and attractive red colored carrot is rich in carotene. Due to high production and red color, this variety is the first choice of farmers and customers.

• Selection No. 223 : Carrots of this variety are orange in colour. Sweet in taste, the length of this carrot is 15 to 18 cm. It takes about 90 days for the crop to be ready after sowing. A yield of 80 to 120 quintals of carrot is given per acre of land.

• Carrot No. 29: This is one of the quick growing varieties. Carrots of this variety are light red in color. A yield of 80 to 100 quintals of crop is obtained per acre of land.

• Hybrid No. 1: Carrots of this variety are dark orange in colour. Carrots are 7 to 9 inches in length. This variety is suitable for cultivation in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, hills of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

• Pusa Asita: This variety was developed in the year 2008. This variety is suitable for sowing from September to October. It takes about 90 to 120 days for the crop to be ready after sowing. About 100 quintals of crop is produced per acre of land. Carrots of this variety are dark brown or black in color.
