Suitable timing and seed treatment for jute cultivation
Jute is cultivated mainly in the eastern areas of Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. Its fibers are used to make rugs , sacks, tarpaulins, ropes, clothes, paper etc. It is also cultivated for green manure. The cultivation of jute requires a moist climate.

24 to 35 degree centigrade temperature is considered best for jute.

In lowland areas, sowing is done in the month of February.

Whereas in areas with higher land, sowing can be done from March to July.

Healthy seeds should be selected before sowing.

First of all treat with 2 to 3 grams of thiram or carbendazim per kilogram of seed. This can protect the plants from many diseases.

After 5 to 6 hours treat the seed with Rhizobium culture.

10 kg of seed can be treated per 1 packet of Rhizobium culture.
Method of seed treatment from Rhizobium culture

To treat the seed with Rhizobium culture, first boil 50 grams jaggery in 500 ml water and boil it lightly.

Now let the water and jaggery solution cool down completely.

Add 200 to 250 grams of Rhizobium culture to this solution.

Sprinkle this mixture evenly on 10 kg of seeds and mix well and make a light layer over the seeds.

Sow the seeds by drying them in the shade for 2 to 3 hours.
