Weed Management in Soybean Crop

Weeds in soybean crop have adverse effect on yield. Soybean crop can be reduced by 30 to 70 percent due to weed in the field. This may result in loss to the farmers instead of profit. Plants do not get proper nutrients due to excessive weeds. Due to the growth of various grasses in the field, there is a danger of various diseases and pests. In soybean cultivation, there is a high risk of weeds growing within 20 to 45 days after sowing. Its excess also reduces the amount of space, moisture and air needed for plants to grow.

Main weeds in soybean crop

  • Weeds with broad leaves: This type of grass has broad leaves. It includes wild amaranth, wild jute, bun makoy, black dana, thousanddana, mahkua etc.

  • Weeds with narrow leaves: This type of grass has thin leaves. It includes sanvaks, kodons, doobs etc.

How to control?

  • To destroy the weeds already present in the field, do deep plowing 1-2 times. Due to this, the roots of the grass already present in the field will come up and get destroyed in the strong sunlight.
