best varieties of pomegranate

Due to the increasing demand for pomegranate in the foreign market as well as in the country and the profits made from it, farmers are also increasing inclination for pomegranate cultivation. Choose the varieties carefully for its cultivation. Some varieties of pomegranate and their characteristics can be seen from here.

  • Ganesh: This variety was developed in the year 1936. In the year 1970, its name was changed from Allan D to Ganesh. One fruit of this variety weighs 200 to 300 grams. Sweet, juicy and delicious in food, the color of its grains is light pink. 8 to 12 kg fruit is obtained per plant.

  • Saffron: The biggest feature of this variety is that its fruits are less bursting. It looks very attractive and shiny. Its seeds are red , soft and sweet. Each fruit weighs 250 to 300 grams. It is the best variety from the point of view of export.

  • Jodhpur Red: It is cultivated mainly in the North-Western regions. Plants of this variety are larger than other varieties , as well as the problem of fruit bursting is also less. The grains are filled with 60 to 65 percent juice.

  • Arkta: The size of the fruits of this variety is large. Its grains are soft, red and sweet. The yield per plant is 30 to 35 kg of fruits.

  • Sindoori: This variety was developed in the year 2008-09. Its specialty is that after the plant is 3 years old, it starts bearing fruit. Its fruits are as attractive to look at , they are equally delicious to eat.
