small leaf disease of eggplant

Apart from India, brinjal is cultivated in countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, China, Philippines, France and Italy. There are many diseases in the brinjal crop. One of which is small leaf disease. This disease is also called sterile disease. This disease can reduce the yield of brinjal by up to 40 percent. Through this post, you can see the symptoms and prevention measures of this disease.

symptoms of disease

  • Due to this disease, the leaves of the plants remain small.

  • Infected plants do not produce fruit.

  • Even if the fruit is planted, the fruits become hard and their size also remains small.

  • Plants affected by this disease stop growing.

  • Sometimes the plants affected by this disease start looking like bushes.

preventive measures

  • Small leaf disease in brinjal is spread from one plant to another by sap-sucking insect and leaf-hopper insect.

  • Remove the affected plants from the field, burn them and destroy them or bury them in the soil.

  • To avoid this disease, control weeds in the field.

  • At the time of transplanting plants, take special care to keep enough gaps between plants.

  • Plants can be saved from this disease by adopting crop rotation.

  • Plant barrier crops around the field to prevent the vector from directly attacking your crop.

  • Use of thiamethoxam, imidachlorpid or acetamipripid to control insect vectors (sucking insects and leaf hoppers).
