types of chili

There are many types of chilies. From here you can get information about some of the major varieties of chillies.

  • Pusa Jwala: It is one of the quick growing varieties. In this way the peppers are long and pungent.

  • Vermilion: Its crop is ready in 3 months. About 13 quintals of chilli can be obtained per hectare of land.

  • Andhra Jyoti: About 18 quintals of chillies are produced per hectare of land. Chilli of this species is cultivated all over India.

  • Kalyanpur Chaman and Kalyanpur Miracle: Both these are hybrid species. The chillies of these species are red and pungent.

  • Pusa Evergreen: It is a species occurring in all months. In plants, peppers grow in clusters. There are 6 to 22 chilies in a bunch.

  • Kalyanpur-1: In this variety of plants, chillies are ready in about 215 days. Farmers can get about 19 quintals of chilli from one hectare of land.

  • Kalyanpur-2: In this variety of plants, chillies are ready in about 210 days. About 15 quintals of chilli can be obtained per hectare of land.

Apart from the above mentioned varieties, some other varieties of chillies are also found. These include Bhagya Lakshmi, Krishi Anmol , Arka Meghna, Punjab Sindoori, Surya Rekha, NP-46, Jawahar Mirch-218.
